Two men have been arrested for allegedly breaking into their neighbour's home to steal food

According to a statement by Ampang Jaya police station, a 38-year-old housewife heard loud noises outside of her apartment unit in Kampung Ampang Campuran on Saturday, 29 October at 3am in the morning.

She reported that the noises sounded like someone was kicking a grilled gate and she proceeded to investigate the source of the noise. Upon looking out of the peephole of her door, she reportedly saw two local men breaking into her neighbour's food storage space.

The two men allegedly made off with RM30 worth of food. The housewife made a police report after witnessing the incident.

Three hours after the report was made, the two men were arrested at 6am in the morning

According to Ampang Jaya district police chief ACP Mohamad Farouk Eshak, an investigative police team was sent over to the location to arrest the two suspects, aged 21 and 22 years old.

Both of them were taken to the police station.

One of the suspects allegedly has a prior criminal record, whereas the other had no prior offenses. Upon investigation, it was found that the suspects had stolen a packet of sausages and imitation crab meat. Both packets of food have been confiscated from the suspects.

The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for breaking and entering into houses or premises for the purpose of stealing.
