Parts Of Jalan TAR Will Only Be Accessible To Buses And Pedestrians Starting March 2019
The stretch from Jalan Esfahan to the Jalan Melayu intersection will officially be closed off to all other vehicles.

A one-kilometre stretch of Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman (Jalan TAR) will be reserved for buses and pedestrians only effective 15 March
"The existing design along the said stretch seems to give priority to pedestrians with wider pavements and a narrow road," Federal Territories Minister Khalid Samad told reporters at Menara Seri Wilayah yesterday, 12 February, New Straits Times reported.
As such, the stretch from Jalan Esfahan to the Jalan Melayu intersection will officially be closed off to all other vehicles
According to Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Nor Hisham Ahmad Dahlan, input gathered from the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) Facebook page showed that many supported the change of traffic plan.
"There are about 1,000 responses collected, with 57% stating they agreed to the plan and 43% against it," he said.
The owners of premises along the affected stretch have since been informed of the plan.
The Federal Territories Minister explained that if the conversion runs smoothly, the Ramadan Bazaar along Jalan Masjid India may be allowed to operate from Jalan TAR
While the plan was always to relocate it to a better site, "Jalan TAR is already equipped to accommodate pedestrians, and the road is wide enough to set up a festive bazaar. The permanent shops' entrances will not be blocked either," he explained, as quoted in a report by The Star.
