A stall at a Raya bazaar in Singapore was recently ordered shut after a video showing one of its workers selling pork at the market went viral

TikTok user @mvkbudvk uploaded the video on 21 March, showing some of the stalls at the Marsiling market in Woodlands.

Most of the vendors at the bazaar were seen selling halal food items like satay and laksa, except for one who sold pork sticks.

"Call it a Raya bazaar but (they are) selling pork. I'm also confused," the user wrote in the video's caption.

Netizens were outraged by the vendor and urged the bazaar to shut down its stall

One user commented that the locals in the area must file a report to the organising committee.

"This is okay if it's a normal pasar malam (with) mixed shops, but if it's called a Raya bazaar or a Ramadan bazaar then it's just wrong," another wrote.

However, some users defended the vendor for selling the non-halal food at the Raya bazaar.

After receiving complaints about the issue, the Marsiling Constituency Office has since assured that the bazaar organisers took immediate action

In a Facebook post, the office said the organisers have asked the operator to stop selling pork at the market.

"We will endeavour to prevent future recurrences. We would like to thank members of the public for sharing your concerns. We apologise for any inconvenience and concerns caused," they wrote.

"We wish to assure all our residents and patrons to the bazaar that we will do our utmost to provide as best as a Ramadan experience as we can. This includes performances during the weekends as well as halal or Muslim-owned stalls, and non-halal stalls to cater to all residents," they added.
