Mydin Launches B40-Friendly Rahmah Set Meals For As Low As RM4.90
The Menu Rahmah initiative is aimed to relieve the burden placed on low-income households due the current rise in cost of living.

Malaysians can now enjoy lunch or dinner set meals for RM4.90 at all 28 branches of Mydin's big supermarkets, restaurant operators, and food courts
According to Mydin Malaysia's recent Facebook post, the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) launched the Menu Rahmah Program initiative at Mydin Subang Jaya, Selangor, yesterday, 31 January.
Each set meal comprises of rice, a choice of protein, either chicken or fish, a portion of vegetables, and a bottle of mineral water.

Present at the launch, the minister said some traders were also offering other varieties of food including, rojak, fried noodles, and shawarma.
"I will try to have 15,000 premises involved in this initiative," he said in a press conference, reported Malay Mail.
The restaurants involved includes affiliates from the Malaysian Indian Restaurant Owners Association (PRIMAS), the Malaysian Muslim Restaurant Owners Association (PRESMA), Malaysia Singapore Coffee Shop Proprietors General Association (MCSPGA), and Mydin supermarket outlets nationwide.
He said the restaurants that join this programme will not be subsidised as the government is trying to make this a zero-budget initiative.
However, he will propose to provide participants with incentives, such as reduced rental rates and easier applications for the migrant labourers, at the next Cabinet meeting.
According to The Vibes, the rest of the eateries comprise of around 12,000 mamak restaurants, 800 Indian restaurants, and 500 Kuala Lumpur-based tomyam shops.

"Should the premise operators find it hard to cope with the price, they can tell KPDN so that we can discuss over this from time to time, but so far, they have no problem with the RM5 menu," he said, reported Bernama.
He also added that he does not think those who are not from the hardcore poor households would take advantage of the menu, however, they are free to do so if their money runs dry halfway through the month.
