A 13-year-old girl in Thailand revealed that her mother forced her into sex work when she was just 11, pimping her to a 50-year-old man for drug money

The victim, who resides in Hua Hin village, confided in her father and stepmother about the ordeal on 26 April. Her father then contacted the Pavena Foundation for Children and Women, an NGO in Thailand for victims facing abuse and other difficulties, seeking legal and protective action.

According to the father, he and the girl's mother had separated years ago and never legally married. They had two daughters, aged 8 and 13, who remained with their mother. He claimed the mother constantly made it difficult for him to see the children, reported Bangkok Post.

After the girl reached out to her stepmother, saying she no longer wanted to live with her mother and grandmother due to ongoing abuse, her father immediately travelled from Phuket to bring her home.

He filed a police report and informed the mother that their daughter would be relocating to Phuket. At first, the mother resisted, but changed her stance after the girl made the allegations.

The girl recounted that, when she was just 11 years old, her mother and aunt took her to a short-stay hotel on two separate occasions

The girl said the first incident happened in August 2023, when her aunt drove her to meet the 50-year-old man, who then took her to a hotel to sexually assault her. She returned home in pain and bleeding. When she told her mother, she was allegedly dismissed and told it was "just her period".

She was taken to meet the same man two months later.

The man dropped her off at a park, where her mother was waiting. He reportedly told the mother not to bring the child again, prompting her to verbally lash out at her daughter.

The girl also claimed that her mother, who was addicted to methamphetamine, had used her to collect drugs on her behalf to avoid police detection. She said her mother was under constant pressure from loan sharks.

The mother and aunt were arrested on 19 May on charges of human trafficking and procuring a child under 15 for sexual exploitation

The mother has confessed to having arranged three meetings with the man — once in a public park to introduce the girl to the man for 1,500 baht (RM195), and twice at hotels for 2,000 and 5,000 baht (RM261 to RM652), respectively. The aunt allegedly kept all the money.

Police are looking for the aunt, as well as the man who paid for sex with the child.
