'Miracle Girl' Survives 18-Storey Apartment Fall With Only Fractures
It was a miracle that she survived the fall.
A nine-year-old girl in Tangshan, northern China, has survived an 18-storey fall after plummeting from her 25th-floor home, in what many online are calling a miracle
According to South China Morning Post, the incident occurred on 27 March, when the child, alone in her bedroom, attempted to open a window due to the heat.
The girl's mother, surnamed Shen, said the window frame was unstable and gave way, causing the girl to fall.
She landed on a platform on the seventh floor.
Her father realised she was missing when she didn't respond at dinnertime
Initially, he saw nothing below — only her slippers.
The family was alerted to her whereabouts by a resident who heard a noise and contacted building management.
The girl, still conscious, had walked a few steps before collapsing.
She was found in her school uniform, bleeding from her mouth and ears, with swelling around her eyes
With local hospitals in Tangshan refusing treatment, her parents drove her 200km to Beijing Children's Hospital, where she was diagnosed with fractures to her arms, brow ridge, and spine.
Her brain remained unharmed.
She underwent multiple surgeries and was discharged after 10 days. A follow-up appointment is scheduled for late April.
"My daughter's survival has made people believe she was protected by a higher power," Shen said. "It’s truly a miracle."
