Media Prima Is Considering Moving Out Of Its Balai Berita Office In Bangsar

Announced on 4 June this year, the prospective move is the next phase in the Group transformation plan, the company said in a press statement on Wednesday, 15 July.

According to the statement, the Group determined that it does not require the existing space capacity as its workflow efficiency has improved due to the several initiatives it has taken to revise revenue models and operational changes to address cost inefficiencies arising from work duplication.

The press statement comes amidst a report in The Edge Markets, in which an unnamed source said that the move is "part of Media Prima's cost-cutting measures".

They are Sri Pentas (office and studios) located in Petaling Jaya, Balai Berita 1 (office) in Bangsar, Balai Berita 2 (printing plant and office) in Shah Alam, and Glenmarie Studios (office and studios) in Shah Alam.

"Total office and studio spaces for all four locations are over one million sqft, which is above required space. As such, Media Prima does have plans to consolidate its operations into three locations namely Sri Pentas, Balai Berita 2, and Glenmarie Studios based on workflow and efficient space requirement," it said.

As such, any move into consolidating Media Prima's operations and vacating Balai Berita 1 will have to be negotiated and mutually agreed by both parties based on the terms and conditions of the agreements.
