A man in China woke up from a coma after 10 years of being painstakingly cared for by his loving wife
The story of Sun Hongxia's dedication to her husband from China's Eastern Province of Anhui touched the hearts of many people.
Sun started caring for her husband after he fell into a coma following a heart attack in 2014
According to Dawan News, Sun cared for her husband and held firmly to the belief that he would emerge from his coma.
"Although I'm very tired, I feel all is worthwhile as the family is reunited," she said to Dawan News. Recollecting the moment he woke up, she added, "His eyes opened little by little".
Sun said her two children inspired her to stay strong during the traumatic 10-year experience
"I aspired to set a good example for them (children)," she said, adding that her daily focus was on keeping her husband comfortable.
His condition led her husband to have problems with bodily functions like breathing and defecating, as well as difficulty eating. These conditions had to be resolved through a tracheotomy and a urinary catheter.
After watching Sun patiently take care of her comatose husband, her 84-year-old father-in-law praised her dedication
"Although she is my daughter-in-law, she is better than a daughter. No one can compare with her," he said.
