A father from China is facing child-trafficking charges for trying to sell his five-month-old toddler because he needed the money to buy his wife a new car

According to reports in China, the man wanted to divorce his wife, and his wife said he must buy her a car for her to agree to the divorce. The incident happened on 12 January.

The man, who goes by the surname Zhang, was nervous as he looked around for the buyer for more than 10 minutes.

The infant was not wrapped properly in the icy conditions and began crying, according to Chinese daily Huanqiu.

Cops managed to detain the man whom they thought was acting suspiciously. After interrogation, he confessed that he had agreed to sell the vulnerable child for 80,000 yuan (RM51,849)

It is difficult to break up when you have a child,” he told the authorities.

Cops arrested him for human trafficking and are investigating the case further. It is not clear whether the man’s wife knew about his intention to sell their baby.
