Man In Johor Crushed To Death By 500KG Concrete Cylinder After It Slid Off A Lorry

The accident happened on Tuesday, 3 April.

On Tuesday evening, at around 4.30pm, a 41-year-old man was crushed to death after a 500kg of concrete cylinder fell from a lorry

The accident, that occurred at KM60 of Jalan Batu Pahat-Mersing, Johor, took place when the victim stopped to help the lorry driver who was taking a U-turn.

According to NST Online, the victim was repairing a broken pipe in the area.

As he stopped to assist the lorry driver by trying to controlling the traffic, one of the cylinders on the back of the lorry broke loose, rolled off and crushed him, NST Online reported Kluang police chief Assistant Commissioner Muhamad Laham saying.

The victim was identified as Amir Mahmud, a Bangladeshi

Amir sustained serious head and body injuries. As a result of which, he died on the spot. His body was taken to Enche Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital for post-mortem.

According to the ACP, Amir was "standing too close to the lorry and did not have enough time to escape" when the cylinder fell

"Further investigation will be carried out to identify the cause of the incident, including possible negligence," ACP Muhamad was quoted as saying by NST Online.
