Man Ordered To Appear In Court Because He Had A Ladder And Tools In His Car

Earlier today, 21 November, a man was issued a summon for having tools in his car

The man took to Facebook to express his anger at the summon. 

"Can't I put things in the trunk of my car? Do I deserve a summon for putting a few tools?" he wrote. 

At the time of writing, the Facebook post had garnered nearly 6,000 shares within seven hours. 

The man's summon shows that he had violated the law because he did not register his car as a "goods vehicle"

According to China Press, Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement department chief Asst Comm Zulkefly Yahya said the man had carried goods in his "commercial" motorcar without prior permission. 

The man's summon listed "unregistered goods vehicle" as his offence. 

Under Section 34 of the Commercial Vehicles Licensing Board Act 1987, anyone who carries goods in an unlicensed goods vehicle faces a maximum fine of RM10,000, a year in jail, or both

The man has been ordered to appear in court next year

According to the summon, the man has to appear at the Petaling Jaya Magistrate Court in January 2019 for his offence. 

Meanwhile, Asst Comm Zulkefly confirmed that the man's summon cannot be settled by paying a fine.
