Malindo Air's Boeing 737-900ER flight OD1027 from Kota Kinabalu touched down on the new 4km runway 3 at KLIA2.

Being the first aircraft to land at the world's largest purpose-built low-cost terminal at 12.10am Friday, Flight OD1027 was given a grand welcome with water cannons spraying the aircraft.

Present at the airport to witness the historic moment were Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Abdul Aziz Kaprawi, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) chairman Tan Sri Dr Wan Abdul Aziz Wan Abdullah, MAHB Managing Director Tan Sri Bashir Ahmad and Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) Director General Datuk Azharuddin Abdul Rahman.

Meanwhile, AirAsia Is Expected To Move To Its Operations To KLIA2 By 9 May 2014
Anchor tenant AirAsia is expected to move its operations from the low-cost terminal by May 9. Airlines now operating out of KLIA2 are Malindo Air, Cebu Pacific Airways, Lion Air and Tiger Air.
