Generous Donations And Emotional Support Pour In For Girl Who Lost Her Family In USJ Fire

Malaysians are doing all they can to help the sole surviving member of the family.

It was a Monday morning. It was supposed to be a good start to the week for 23-year-old Lim Yi Jun, but she found out that her house in USJ was consumed by flames. She lost her entire family.

In the midst of Chinese New Year festivities, she received the tragic news that everyone in her family perished in the fire while she was away from home, as she was staying nearby her college in Cheras.

Her father, Lim Ah Kok, 58, her mother, Goh Bee Khim, 52, and her brothers Lim Yong Liang, 20 and Lim Yong Wei, 17, were found dead in their double-storey terrace house in USJ2.

Those who read or heard about this unfortunate event said that words cannot even begin to describe the sense of shock and sadness they felt after finding out what happened, what more for Yi Jun, who lost everything and orphaned overnight.

Those who were close to the Lim family had nothing but good, kind words for each individual

Ah Kok, fondly known as Rican to his friends, was a prominent member of the local community. It was said that he was an active member who often participated in the USJ2 Rukun Tetangga (RT) and Residents Association activities.

Several relatives of the Lim family who spoke to the media revealed that they were a very caring and helpful family who often went to great lengths to ensure the comfort of others.

Many friends also said that they were friendly and warm.

Members of the public were urged to donate generously to help Yi Jun and Malaysians were quick to respond to this call

Subang Jaya assemblyman Hannah Yeoh posted on her Facebook page yesterday, 7 February, expressing her condolences while appealing to the public to donate

It was reported that Yeoh and the local community has raised several thousands of ringgit to provide some financial aid to the sole surviving member of the family.

Meanwhile, others have also offered their services if needed, in hopes of easing some of Yi Jun's burden during these trying times.

Many others poured in words of encouragement and offered emotional support to her.
