Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is on a mission to getting his body back in shape, citing Youth and Sports Minister Khairy as his fitspiration

Najib made his fitness goal clear at the launch of this year's National Sports Day in Kuala Lumpur.

"I want my body to be the same as Khairy’s (Khairy Jamaluddin), slim. But this takes time," the premier said as quoted by The Malaysian Insight.

If you didn't know already, Khairy is all about that #fitlife. He took part in the gruelling 113km-long Putrajaya Ironman triathlon last year and most recently, he became the first Sports Minister to compete in SEA Games.

Oh, he also graced the cover of 'Men's Health' a few years back.

He said Malaysia's infatuation with roti canai, nasi lemak, and teh tarik has led to the nation being listed as the country with the highest rate of obesity in Southeast Asia

Based on the report, the prevalence of obesity in the country was at 13.3%, while overweight was at 38.5%.

He emphasised the importance of sports as well

"We don’t do enough sports. We must play more sports. Don’t put on too much weight. I myself have to trim down," said Najib grabbing his paunch.

Apart from improving overall health and wellness, he added that sports could also be used as a platform to promote unity.

Well, you've heard it from the man himself. Now go exercise! :D
