Malaysians Criticise Skit Explaining Cooking Oil Price Hike By Keluarga Malaysia
Most of the criticism stemmed from the poor production quality of the video.

Keluarga Malaysia, which is under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, posted a 44-second skit style video on their social media accounts in an attempt to explain the recent oil price hike
The skit involves two men having a conversation about the oil price hike at what appears to be a restaurant table on a dock.
The discussion begins with a man in a beige cap lamenting the current oil price hike and asking the other man, "Did you know oil prices rose?"
"Hey bro, wait a minute, don't [say] oil prices are rising out of nowhere. Let me explain first," responded the man wearing sunglasses.
"Cooking oil prices are not rising, just that subsidiary programmes were repealed. This happened because a lot of smuggling and embezzlement happened," he explained.
He goes on to explain that the subsidiary programmes were supposed to end by August 2021
However, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Keluarga Malaysia was concerned with the families that were affected, hence the subsidies were extended until June of this year.
"Now that the endemic phase has ended, the government sees no reason to continue these subsidies," he added.
The video ends with the man in the beige cap saying, "Weh, thanks for explaining it to me. I'll go buy one box of cooking oil right this instant."
The video garnered around 365,000 views on Twitter with over 1,400 quote retweets. Many netizens criticised the video production and the quality of the actors hired for the skit
Netizens pointed out that the acting in the skit was very unnatural and that the actor in the sunglasses was apparently reading off a script.
One Twitter user commented, "Even if you want an act, find la a more natural [actor]. This one looks at a script. Such fools. Why blindly waste money like this? How much were these actors paid? Which agency are they from?"
"Even if you wanted quick content, at least find an actor that knows how to cheat. The tactic of wearing sunglasses is so Windows 95. Content creators that do acting content including myself, are embarrassed to see this. We're unwilling to cheat by reading a script like this," wrote another user.
There were also many users who were bewildered by the quality of the video production, with many making comparisons to a last-minute video produced by college students.
