A Group Of Malaysians Beat Out 194 Pipe Bands To Emerge As World Champions
They were named winners of category Grade 4B and also bagged a few special awards.

A Sikh pipe band from Kuala Lumpur emerged champions at the recent World Pipe Band Championship in Glasgow, Scotland
Asia Samachar reported that on Saturday, 17 August, the Sri Dasmesh Pipe Band was named category champions of Grade 4B at the world meet, beating out 12 other countries.
The band also won awards in the drumming and best parade categories.
Sri Dasmesh was the only Malaysian pipe band at the event
Up to 8,000 pipers and drummers from 195 bands converged at Glasgow Green over the weekend for the championships.
The other bands hailed from 12 countries, which are New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Austria, Switzerland, Eire, the US, Belgium, England, Spain, Northern Ireland, and Scotland.
Pipe leader Tirath Singh, who is also the band's leader, said it was their gift to the country for National Day
The band went through over a year of tireless practice to prepare for this competition. They met three times a week for two hours or more each session at the Sri Dasmesh International School in Kuala Lumpur.
Tirath told Asia Samachar that he hopes they have made Malaysians proud as they raised the Jalur Gemilang in Scotland and bring home the prize.
Along with Tirath, the band was led by his brother, drum sergeant Tripert Singh, and mid-section head Sukhpreet Kaur. Tirath and Tripert are also pilots for national carrier Malaysia Airlines.
