M'sian Singer Raises White Flag On IG To Ask For Help In Funding Dad's Medical Treatment
Amylea Azizan's father was forced to be warded in a private hospital because the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) was overwhelmed with COVID-19 patients.

Malaysian singer Amylea Azizan had to appeal to the public for donations after her father was left with no choice but to be admitted to a private hospital for treatment
The 35-year-old singer and her siblings have been supporting their father's medical costs for the past two years, reported Berita Harian.
However, the COVID-19 pandemic has affected their income, causing Amylea to count on the kindness of her followers on Instagram to pay for her father's medical bill as he was unable to receive treatment at the government hospital.
Sharing an Instagram Story posted by her sister Mya Azizan, it is learnt that her 62-year-old father — Azizan Zainal Abidin — could not be warded in the government hospital as there were no beds available.
Left with no choice, the doctors then advised Amylea's family to bring their father to a private hospital to receive treatment.
When they finally found a hospital that could accept their father, they learnt that they did not have enough money to pay for a deposit at the National Heart Institute (IJN).
"The decision was made amidst an emergency. It was not our intention to send my father to IJN but the government hospital was busy handling the COVID-19 cases," Amylea told Berita Harian
"My father had a fever for two days due to a bacterial infection and needed to be treated in the ward."
"After taking him to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL), he sat in a wheelchair for almost 13 hours waiting to be admitted to the ward."
"Dad was too weak to get up and take care of himself. Eventually, we had to take him home and come again the next day. However, there was still no bed for him.
"We had no choice... If we had not taken my father to any private hospital, we would have lost him," she shared.
Amylea told the Malay daily that she and her family had never asked for a donation for the past two years since their father became sick
"However, this time, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this is the only path we can think of," she said.
The singer took the opportunity to thank donors, saying, "The term 'gratitude' is not enough to express our appreciation as a family to all those who helped."
"Thank you very much. Only God knows how we feel as a family. Only God can reward the services of fans, friends, and the public who help."
In an update today, 2 August, Amylea's sister Mya shared that their father's condition is still not ideal, thus, he is not able to undergo a coronary angiogram, a procedure that uses X-ray imaging to see the blood vessels of patients' hearts.
She had also earlier mentioned that their father did not have a medical card because their father had spent all his money on providing for the family when they were younger.
"We haven't got the chance to repay our father. Now, we have all grown up, working well until we could support ourselves and buy our own medical cards. But he didn't have the chance. We are sorry," Mya wrote.
She thanked everyone and also shared a bank account number in an Instagram Story today so that the public could help her family out.
