It was reported that the LRT service on the Kelana Jaya line was disrupted this morning over a glitch in the signalling and communication system.

"We had glitches in the signalling and communication system between the Ampang Park and Dang Wangi stations and had to power down the line at several stations in the city centre for us to attend to the situation," Kelana Jaya LRT Line Chief Operating Officer Ismail Abdullah reportedly said in a statement.

RapidKL deployed buses to the affected LRT stations to ferry stranded passengers to their desired destinations. Additionally, commuters who have entered the paid area of the stations may seek a refund from RapidKL.

The chaos started at about 7am today, 7 September, when the power trip happened

With the disruption, the trains that remained operational were moving slower than usual and RapidKL posted live updates from time-to-time in its official Twitter account and Facebook page to inform commuters about the latest developments.

It was reported that many commuters left the LRT stations after realising the situation but most of them stayed on because they had no alternative transportation.

A few fortunate ones found a place to seat and rest but most commuters just stood and waited in frustration. The chilly morning rain couldn't cool them down as they become more heated up, their patience running thin with every second that passed.

Those who were stranded due to the breakdown this morning told SAYS about their frustrating experience. Most of them said that their trip to work was delayed for up to a few hours.

"It sucks. I reached my office two and a half hours late," Khairul Idzwan tweeted.

A few other also said that they took a few hours to travel to work while some were still making their way to work at 12pm.

One particular Twitter user @ibnzakuan said that he missed a flight back to his hometown due to the terrible delay this morning.

Many other disgruntled LRT passengers also took to social media to express their dissatisfaction over the disappointing service offered by RapidKL

As with the LRT commuters, motorists in Klang Valley were not spared from delays this morning as the early morning rain caused massive traffic congestion

Besides the rain and the power trip, accidents this morning only added to the congestion, as a one-hour delay is expected from Citta Mall to the Federal Highway along the Subang Airport road due to an accident.

There was also a report of an accident near Bukit Raja, causing a traffic jam from the toll plaza.

Meanwhile, an accident involving three vehicles at Km7 on the ELITE highway from USJ to Seafield on the right lane is causing delays from the Dengkil rest area.
