A lorry driver charged with causing the deaths of nine Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) officers in a crash in Teluk Intan last week was rearrested just 20 minutes after posting bail, this time for allegedly stealing a cow

Rudi Zulkarnain Mat Radi, 45, had just walked out of the Hilir Perak district police lock-up after posting RM6,000 bail when he was nabbed again by CID officers from the Bagan Datuk district police headquarters.

According to Sinar Harian, the arrest took place around 12.20pm yesterday, 19 May, at the bail payment counter itself, shortly after two people helped secure his bail. His employer, Ravi, 58, paid RM4,000, and an acquaintance, Roslan, 62, contributed the remaining RM2,000.

Police said Rudi was detained to assist in a separate investigation into a cattle theft case that took place in April in Bagan Datuk

The case is being probed under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft.

Last week, Rudi pleaded not guilty at the Teluk Intan Magistrate's Court to nine charges under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which deals with dangerous driving that causes death.

The lorry driver has prior a rape conviction.
