Datuk Lee Chong Wei recently dedicated a heartfelt birthday wish to Dr Noor Hisham where he called the Health director-general a national hero

On Tuesday, 21 April, the former badminton player uploaded photos of Dr Noor Hisham on Facebook along with a caption that read, "During this trying time where Malaysians are in a state of worry and uncertainty, there is a face on the TV screen everyday at 5pm that puts us at ease."

His post has since garnered over 13,000 likes and 576 shares.

He even likened Dr Noor Hisham to a commander-in-chief in the nation's war against the virus

Lee Chong Wei wrote, "He is not Malay, he is not Chinese, he is not Indian, he is not Kadazan Dusun nor Iban. He is Malaysian. He is Malaysia's hero. He is our commander-in-chief in the war against the virus. He is Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah."

The badminton star ended the wish by taking a jab at Dr Adham Baba's recent blunder

"Happy birthday Dr. Here's to your good health and longevity! We Malaysians love you and will follow your order," he wrote.

"P.S. Later I'll ask badminton fans from 500 countries to wish you happy birthday, Dr!"
