A Twitter handle impersonated the official account of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, according to the Prime Minister's Department (JPM)

In a statement today, 7 December, JPM said that the fake Twitter account, using the handle "@anwarinrahim", disseminated false information and fabricated an issue on the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC).

The Prime Minister's official Twitter handle is @anwaribrahim.

The handle impersonating Anwar's official account used the same display picture as used in his handle to spread the fake information stating, "The recognition of UEC will be discussed on a ministry level, and this proposal will be approved by the unity government, in accordance with the Pakatan Harapan manifesto".

JPM advised people to not share any unverified or fake information

"The information on that social media account is fake. The public is advised not to disseminate or share any unverified or fake information," the department said while asking people to refer to the official social media accounts of the Prime Minister for verified announcements on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok.

Meanwhile, a check by SAYS found that the handle, @anwarinrahim, impersonating Anwar's official account is no longer in existence
