JAKIM Orders Recall Of Indonesian Food Products Containing Pork Traces
Eight of the products were marshmallow confectioneries, all manufactured in China.

The Islamic Development Department (JAKIM) has ordered the immediate recall of several Indonesian food products after laboratory test results revealed the presence of pork traces
The decision comes after an announcement by Indonesia's Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH), in coordination with the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM), on Monday, 21 April, revealing the detection of porcine (pig) DNA in processed food products sold in the country.
According to Bernama, JAKIM director-general Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee said the affected products could compromise halal standards and urged importers to contact the agency to arrange their removal from the local market.
"Protecting the rights of Muslim consumers and maintaining the integrity of our halal certification system are top priorities," he said in a statement yesterday, 22 April.
Of the affected products, BPJPH reported that nine batches from seven products were found to have halal certification, while two batches from two products were uncertified
Eight of the products were marshmallow confectioneries, all manufactured in China, while the remaining item was a gelatin product manufactured in Indonesia.
