JAIS Urges 1,310 People Who Were At Subang Airport Mosque Last Friday To Undergo Screening
A worshipper who attended Friday prayers at the mosque on 2 October has now tested positive for COVID-19, the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) said in a statement yesterday, 9 October.

On 2 October, a member of the congregation attended the Friday prayers at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport mosque in Subang Jaya, Selangor. The worshipper has now tested positive for COVID-19.
In a statement yesterday, 9 October, the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) said that following which they ordered the Friday prayers, five-obligatory daily prayers, and other activities at the mosque to be suspended from Thursday, 8 October, until further notice, reported Bernama earlier today, 10 October.
While no details were provided as to on which date the worshipper tested positive for the virus, JAIS has urged some 1,310 worshippers who were present last Friday to undergo COVID-19 screening
"According to records, the number of the congregation who attended the Friday prayers on 2 October, was 1,310 people," JAIS director Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad was quoted as saying yesterday.
"Therefore, JAIS calls on all members of the congregation to immediately undergo screening at the nearest health clinic if they have symptoms or self-quarantine at home," he added.
According to the JAIS director, further action concerning the Subang airport mosque will be discussed in detail in a meeting with a special committee that he will chair at a later date, which was not specified
The report in the national news agency stated that Shahzihan will chair the Supervision Special Committee Meeting at the Mosque & Surau SOP Evaluation for further action on the mosque's status soon.
"Currently, JAIS only allows three people from among committee members to perform the call to prayer and the obligatory prayers," Shahzihan said, adding that cleaning and sanitisation works have been carried out by the mosque's administrators on Friday, 9 October.
In Selangor, there are currently 307 active cases
Selangor, which is Malaysia's most developed and populated state, has been recording two-digit figures for a week now. As of 9 October, the state is in the third spot in terms of active cases after Sabah and Kedah.
