It's Official: Ismail Sabri Sworn In As 9th PM

The UMNO vice president took his oath in front of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

In a ceremony that was aired live by national television stations, UMNO vice president Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob took his oath of office before the Yang di-Pertuan Agong at Istana Negara at 2.30pm

With the oath of office, Ismail has been sworn in as the 9th Prime Minister of Malaysia.

The Bera member of Parliament (MP) arrived at the palace for the presentation of the instrument of appointment and swearing-in ceremony at 2.12pm.

The Bera MP takes over from Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin

Muhyiddin was the caretaker Prime Minister after he announced his resignation on 16 August.

Meanwhile, an opposition MP has asked Ismail to now test to majority in a confidence vote in the Dewan Rakyat as soon as possible:
