In a tragedy that occurred on the eve of Deepavali, a seven-year-old boy died after his 11-year-old cousin sister accidentally stabbed him

The incident happened at the cousin's house in Kampung Koh, Sitiawan, Ipoh, Perak.

Both their families were busy making preparations for Deepavali the next day when the incident occurred during which the victim ran straight into his 11-year-old cousin who was holding a knife.

"His cousin had wanted to use the knife to cut a rope outside the house. My nephew was running around from his house to his cousin's house next door," said the victim's 43-year-old uncle, D Mathialagan.

According to the uncle, the boy lived next door and he bumped into the girl at the front door.

"The knife pierced him in the chest. There was blood everywhere. We took him to the Seri Manjung Hospital where he was pronounced dead," the 43-year-old uncle said when met at the Forensic Department of the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) in Ipoh earlier today, 15 November.

The victim will be cremated on Monday, 16 November

Manjung district police chief ACP Nor Omar Sappi confirmed the incident, adding that the post mortem report on the boy found that he died due to stab wound on the chest.

Meanwhile, the uncle said that his nephew's request to have mutton curry before the tragedy struck would now forever haunt him

"I told him that he could only taste it the next day as it was the main dish for Deepavali celebrations. We didn't expect that he would be gone so soon," he told New Straits Times.

The boy's distraught father has been unable to keep himself together
