The Ministry of Health (MOH) recorded a cluster in Kedah which was caused by an interstate tour trip to Genting Highlands

According to Malaysiakini, the cluster is called 'Dah Lengkuas' and it mostly involves residents from Taman Lengkuas in Simpang Empat in Kedah.

As of today, the cluster has recorded 16 positive cases.

The Dah Lengkuas cluster involves travel by bus to Genting Highlands under the tourism bubble in April.

After they returned, the participants underwent COVID-19 screening and initially, seven people were tested positive.

Kedah exco in charge of health and local government Dr Mohd Hayati Othman told Harian Metro that only one busload is under investigation at present.

"I was informed by the Kedah Health Department that it only involves one bus but we will trace all close contacts," he said.

"Until now, we still don't know the accurate number of positive cases as screenings are still being carried out."

On 9 March, the government announced that it will allow interstate tourism if both states are under the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO)

During a press conference in Putrajaya, Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that the ruling only allows tourism travel through the services of tourism agencies registered with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture.

However, by 4 May, the government suspended the tourism travel policy.

When the Genting Highland trip took place, both Kedah and Pahang were under the RMCO.
