In honour of BTS member Kim Taehyung's birthday, a number of fans held a fundraiser to build a school in rural Vietnam recently

Vietnamese fans of Taehyung, also known as 'V', raised over VND230,000,000 (RM45,000) to construct a school for disadvantaged children in the Dien Bien province.

The project, 'Together With Taehyung, Lighting Up The Dream To Go To School', was launched last December in conjunction with Taehyung's 24th birthday

Allkpop reported that on 19 August 2018, Taehyung's Vietnamese fan page announced the project on Facebook with details such as the location, budget for construction, and number of students that will attend the school.

The fan page also asked for donations from other fans and explained that the inspiration behind this project is Taehyung's love and affection for children.

On 26 December 2018, four days before the idol's birthday, a ceremony was held at the empty site to launch the project and mark the beginning of construction.

The school was finally opened on Sunday, 5 May, after five months of construction

The building is made up of two classrooms and one common room.

Good job, BTS ARMY!
