Honda Malaysia Recalls 87,490 Cars. Here Are The Affected Models
A total of 12 models are affected, and owners are urged to contact their respective authorised dealers.
Honda Malaysia has initiated a product recall affecting 87,490 of its vehicles to address potential issues with their fuel pumps
The automobile manufacturer stated that this precautionary measure is intended to ensure the safety and reliability of the affected models.
The recall primarily affects vehicles with a potential 'fuel pump impeller swelling' issue, totalling 84,073 units across a wide range of models
This defect occurs when the fuel pump's impeller swells after prolonged immersion in fuel. Such a condition could prevent the vehicle from starting or, more critically, cause the engine to stall unexpectedly while driving.
Here are the affected models:
- Jazz (2015 - 2020)
- Jazz Hybrid (2018)
- City (2014 - 2019)
- City Hybrid (2018 - 2019)
- Civic (2017 - 2018)
- Accord (2013 - 2017)
- BR-V (2017 - 2018)
- HR-V (2015 - 2018)
- CR-V (2018 - 2020)
- Odyssey (2017 - 2019)๏ปฟ
The recall also affects 3,417 Honda units due to a fuel pump issue
Both the Civic (2023 โ 2024) and the CR-V (2024) models are affected, and owners are urged to contact their respective dealerships
These vehicles' high-pressure fuel pumps may develop cracks due to prolonged use and excessive stress. This defect might lead to a fuel leak or result in a noticeable fuel odour, whether the vehicle is in motion or idling.
Affected customers will receive detailed product recall information through official notification letters
Owners can also verify their car's recall status using the HondaTouch application.
Honda Malaysia strongly urges all affected customers to schedule an appointment with any authorised Honda dealer once they receive the notification, with replacement subject to parts availability.
The replacement of both the affected fuel pump and high-pressure fuel pump will be conducted free of charge, with all associated costs covered by Honda Malaysia
The company also informed that replacement parts will be rolled out in phases.
Thankfully, as of today, there have been no reports of crashes or injuries in Malaysia related to these issues.
