Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah has announced the procedures for both COVID-19-positive voters and the public during the 15th General Election (GE15)

According to The Star, individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 are still allowed to vote but will be separated from others on polling day, which will take place on 19 November.

Taking to his official Twitter page, Noor Hisham wrote, "Some general steps need to be taken to ensure that the voting process runs safely and to reduce the risk of infection to other voters as well as staff at voting stations. Health workers will be stationed at polling centres to assist COVID-19 positive voters."

Here are the procedures that need to be adhered to ensure that the voting process runs smoothly and safely

1. Face masks: It is compulsory for COVID-19 patients to wear a face mask, meanwhile, members of the public are highly recommended to wear face masks while voting.

2. Transportation: Those who are COVID-19 positive are not allowed to take public transportation, including e-hailing services. They are also not allowed to stop by anywhere before or after casting their ballots and must immediately return home after voting.

3. Sanitisation: Everyone has to make sure to sanitise their hands at the voting station. It is also recommended for everyone to bring along their own hand sanitiser.

4. Physical distancing: COVID-19-positive voters are required to physically distance themselves, and the general public is also highly encouraged to do the same.

We sincerely hope that everyone is immunised against COVID-19. Stay safe everyone!
