Gay And Lesbian Culture Is "Satan's Activity To Deceive And Mislead Humans"

Mohd Farid Ravi Abdullah, a Kolej Universiti Islam Selangor (Kuis) lecturer, made the statement during the Islamic Consultative Council’s (MPI) conference yesterday, 28 February, as reported by The Malay Mail Online.

The conference was officiated by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and some of the people who were in attendance are minister in charge of Islamic affairs Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom and his deputy Senator Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, and former Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim.

He was speaking about education and social sectors, when presenting a paper on the topic of Malay-Muslim-socio-cultures.

The ethnic Indian, Muslim convert is under the opinion that the LGBT community have been "confused" by Satan that "they are born with souls opposite to their genders."

Mohd Farid is also the Kuis Research Management Centre director. His paper also stressed that people who are LGBT must be cured.

"It must be curbed and prevented earlier by giving cure and therapies that is appropriate to the LGBT community," read the paper.

Dubbed by many as a form of pseudoscience, conversion therapy, also known as "reparative therapy", is a controversial practice that seeks to change a person's sexual orientation from homosexual or bisexual to heterosexual.

Human Rights Campaign has labelled this practice as dangerous and discredited it as a ploy to change a person's sexual orientation or gender identity and expression. It has been rejected by most medical and mental health organisations as they believe it can lead to depression, anxiety, drug use, homelessness, and suicide.

A lesbian is a woman who is sexually and romantically attracted to other women, while a gay is usually referred to men who are attracted to other men. As for bisexuals, they are attracted to people of both sexes.

Meanwhile, transgender is a term used to describe people whose gender identity differs from the one they are born with. Note that not all people whose appearance of behaviour is gender-atypical identify as a transgender.

"The influence of friends play a role, that's why it is important who our kids are friends with. If their friends are good, then they will be good too," added Mohd Farid.

He also expressed his disappointment that the LGBT community is made up of people who come from good education background, hold top positions and sometimes even people who serve as Islam clerics.
