Man Suffers Head Injuries After Hilton KL's Lobby Ceiling Collapsed On Him
The affected area is now closed off until further notice.

A 25-year-old Bangladeshi worker suffered head injuries after nearly 140m² of the lobby ceiling in Hilton Kuala Lumpur collapsed on him yesterday, 14 October
Malay Mail reported a spokesman for the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department as saying that the victim was carrying out electrical upgrading work when the incident happened at 3.20am yesterday.
The Bangladeshi national fell from a height of 12 metres due to the collapse.
"A 1,500 square feet (nearly 140 square metre) section of the ceiling collapsed, causing the man to suffer head injuries," the spokesman said.
The Bangladeshi national was working alone at the time of the incident
"During the incident, the victim was working alone and there were no members of the public in the area. Some furnishings and equipment in the hotel lobby were damaged," Brickfields district police chief ACP Ruslan Khalid was quoted as saying by The Straits Times.
According to theSun, the victim was fixing the wiring of a fire alarm system before the ceiling collapsed.
It took 26 firemen to rescue the Bangladeshi national.
A representative of Hilton KL told The Straits Times that the affected area is now temporarily closed to the public
"The area will be temporarily closed to the public. During this time, Oro Cafe, Chambers Bar, and the Lobby Lounge will not be in operation until further notice," the representative told The Straits Times.
The representative added that the routine maintenance work on the lobby ceiling was conducted by an approved maintenance contractor.
The victim has since been taken to Universiti Malaya Medical Centre for treatment
The Bangladeshi national is now in a stable condition.
Meanwhile, theSun reported ACP Ruslan as saying that police had received a report from the supervisor of the maintenance company yesterday. The incident will now be probed to verify if there were criminal elements involved.
