A food delivery rider from Seremban could not believe his eyes while checking his Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) results yesterday, 1 July

According to a report by Bernama, 20-year-old Muhammad Izzuddin Amirrudin is a part-time delivery rider for GrabFood and had checked his results online while waiting to pick up a customer's order.

"I was so excited and ecstatic after I found out I got four A(s) and a 4.0 CGPA. I'm really thankful that all of my efforts and sacrifices had finally paid off," the national news agency quoted him as saying.

The second child in a family of six siblings, Muhammad Izzuddin credits his success to a diligent study regime of two to three hours per day, as well as additional reading sourced from the Internet.

"My parents (are also a big help) as they are always giving me advice and the motivation to face my exams. Especially now, with the COVID-19 pandemic still ongoing," he said, adding that his teachers also contributed a lot by imparting their wisdom with him and his friends.

A recent graduate from SMK Taman Forest Heights here in Seremban, Muhammad Izzuddin says his biggest challenges faced were the lack of face-to-face interactions with friends and faculty, as well as a lack of adequate Internet connectivity.

"A weak Internet connection definitely made online learning an uphill task. There were times when I just wanted to give up, but my parents were always there to rekindle my spirits."

Elaborating on his experience as a food delivery rider, he said it taught him to be more mindful of others from differing backgrounds and helped him mature

According to Muhammad Izzuddin, working as a rider has also taught him how to be responsible and honest.

He added that the experience had also strengthened his physical and mental state.
