Finance Minister Says BPN Aid For 2.3 Million New Applicants To Be Paid Out From 15 May

LHDN has approved a cumulative total payout of RM1.7 billion.

A total of 2.3 million new applications and appeals for Bantuan Prihatin Nasional (BPN) have been approved. These approved applicants will start receiving their cash assistance from 15 May.

According to an announcement made by Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz earlier today, 9 May, the Malaysian Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) has completed its review of these new applications and appeals.

The Finance Minister said that LHDN has approved a cumulative total payout of RM1.7 billion.

"The BPN will be paid to eligible recipients in a single payout beginning 15 May 2020," he said in a statement that was shared by the Minister of Finance on its Twitter account.

A total of 10.6 million BPN applicants will benefit from RM11 billion

"With the approval of these new applications and appeals, the total number of BPN recipients currently stands at 10.6 million, with a cumulative total disbursement of RM11 billion," he said.

Zafrul said the government hopes the BPN will benefit the rakyat, adding that applicants can check on the outcome of their submissions and appeals here.

Previously, LHDN had clarified that new applications will only be processed in May 2020 and that approved applicants will receive the payout for April and May together:
