Female Cyclist Killed After A Lorry Hit Her From Behind In Putrajaya

The 34-year-old victim was cycling alone.

In a fatal accident that happened at about 9.40am Saturday, 19 December, a female cyclist was killed after a lorry hit her from behind near a bridge at the Putrajaya Lake Club, Presint 8 in Putrajaya

The accident was witnessed by Shukri Hassan, who posted on his Facebook profile to warn other cyclists.

The 43-year-old witness said that he was driving behind the slow-moving lorry at the time of the accident.

"Suddenly the lorry skidded and went over the road divider, and I saw something fell and I honked at the lorry driver repeatedly to make sure that he stopped," he wrote.

According to the witness, the female cyclist was still breathing when he went to check on her. However, her pulse was slow and weak.

"I immediately called the emergency line and 10 minutes later an ambulance arrived at the scene. After conducting the examination, the medical officer confirmed that the victim had died," Shukri wrote.

The accident has since been confirmed by Putrajaya district deputy police chief Supt S. Vijaya Rao.

The victim was 34-year-old and was cycling alone

Her body has been sent to Putrajaya Hospital for post-mortem.

Meanwhile, the driver of the lorry has since been detained with the case being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, according to Supt S Vijay.
