DPM Claims Mahathir Will Admit Himself Into Hospital Before Polling Day For Sympathy Votes

Yesterday, 1 May, Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi claimed that he could already "smell" Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad admitting himself into hospital on the eve of polling day
China Press reported Zahid as saying that this is among the opposition's "last-minute attack plans" to gain sympathy votes from the people of Langkawi.
Zahid was speaking to reporters at an event in Bagan Datuk.
Zahid also warned voters to not fall victim to Mahathir's "tactics" by drawing from the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman's claim of a flight sabotage last week
According to Free Malaysia Today (FMT), Zahid stated that Mahathir used a similar last-minute attack before nomination day by claiming that his flight to Langkawi was sabotaged on 27 April.
"It was because he wanted to get sympathy one day before nomination day, claiming that the incident was to get him disqualified to contest in the Langkawi parliamentary seat," Zahid added.
Zahid went on to claim that Mahathir's "template" has not changed although his strategy and tactics can vary.
"The template remains the same, to confuse the voters, to gain sympathy and blame others, even if the weakness is with him," Zahid said.
"We know him because we have worked for him," he added.
However, Mahathir has dismissed Zahid's claims in a tweet yesterday, 1 May
"Someone said I will be admitted into a hospital to gain sympathy from the people," Mahathir wrote, before claiming that he already has the people's support without being in a hospital.
"Zahid is someone who had come to see me after he was made deputy (Prime Minister) to seek my help," he added.
