Deadly Crash Involving Five Bikes And A Car Leaves Three Teens Dead And Two Critical

The fatal accident happened on Guthrie Highway early Saturday morning.

Early today, on 13 September, three teenagers lost their lives and another two are in critical condition following an accident involving five motorcycles and a car at KM20.4 of the Guthrie Highway

Police said the crash occurred when three motorcyclists racing at high speed lost control of their bikes and collided into each other before crashing into a Mazda CX5 driven by a woman

Police said the first incident occurred at 1am along KM20.4 of the highway when two teenage boys were racing. One of them lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the other motorcyclist. Both teens then hit a Mazda CX5 car that was travelling southbound on the same lane as the motorcyclists.

"Not far behind was another group of three teenagers on motorcycles that were also travelling at high speeds. Due to the earlier accident, these guys could not avoid the accident in time and also crashed into them. The impact sent two motorcyclists from the second group flying. One hit the hard pavement while the other was thrown off the flyover. Both were killed instantly," said Sungai Buloh OCPD Supt Junaidi Bujang.

Another motorcylist died while being rushed to the Sungai Buloh Hospital at 3am, while the other two, age 16 and 20, were in critical condition. The driver of the car, Nur Hasmimi Hassan, 36, escaped uninjured.

Superintendent Junaidi said due to the horrific nature of the crashes, police have yet to establish which bikers were involved in the first and second crash

"Their vehicles are too banged up and the surviving two victims are unconscious. Hence, we have yet to find out who were involved in both crashes," he said.

The dead have been identified as Muhamad Hafiz Erman, 18, Amir Afif Mohamad Nizam, 18 and Muhamad Shafie Sudar, 16. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act for reckless driving.
