MOH: 18 Clusters In Selangor Are Locally Transmitted & Not Caused By Returnees From Sabah

According to the Ministry of Health (MOH), there are currently 26 active COVID-19 clusters in Selangor
In a statement published on Twitter on Tuesday, 20 October, MOH addressed the spike in COVID-19 cases in Selangor.
They wrote, "With the addition of 132 new cases today, the total positive cases in Selangor is 3,498 cases."
"A total of 26 active clusters have been recorded in Selangor beginning with the first cluster (Jalan Apas Cluster) until the latest cluster that was announced (Hentian Cluster)," they added.
The ministry noted that 18 clusters are locally transmitted and unrelated to returnees from Sabah
"A total of 18 active clusters (69.2%) are locally transmitted, while eight clusters (30.8%) have links to people returning from Sabah," the statement read.
"This means that 69.2% of infections in Selangor have no relation with returnees from Sabah."
During a press conference yesterday, Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said, "The COVID-19 virus now exists within our community."
A graph uploaded by MOH shows that there is a massive disparity in the number of locally transmitted cases and the number of imported cases.
The current biggest cluster in Selangor is linked to a shopping centre in Petaling Jaya
Meanwhile, MOH also highlighted that nine out of the total clusters in Selangor is linked to infection at the workplace.
"This situation is following the high residential density and rate of movement among residents and visitors in Selangor," they added.
