Civil Servant Couples Who Are 5 Months Into Pregnancy Can Now Leave Work An Hour Early
There's just one caveat.

In an effort to safeguard the welfare and safety of female civil servants in the country, a special facility is being implemented for female public servants who are five months into their pregnancy
They will be allowed to leave work an hour early starting 1 January 2018.
The special facility will be given to all permanent and contract staff including those currently serving the state public service, statutory bodies and local authorities.
While it applies to the female public servants, who are five months into their pregnancy, it can also be applied to their husband, provided the couple works in the same vicinity.
It is important to note that the criteria of "in the same vicinity" implies that the couple works in the same building, complex or area
This, so that it allows the husband and wife to ride in the same vehicle to return home from work, according to the Public Service Circular No 11 of 2017, which was issued Friday, 22 December, and was approved by the Public Service Department Director-General (D-G) Tan Sri Zainal Rahim Seman.
Additionally, civil servants can use the facility at any time once they are into their fifth month or 22 weeks and above of pregnancy
"The facility will expire one day after the approved deadline or on the date when they start their maternity leave, whichever comes first.
"The use of this special facility is based on the application from the civil servant and approval from the head of the department," the circular stated.
However, civil servants seeking to use the special facility should submit the application form at least a week earlier so that the administration of the department keeps functioning smoothly
