Parent Warns Of Malaysia Flag Badge Pins After Daughter Accidentally Injures Her Foot
"Please be careful with the Malaysia flag pin," said the primary school student's father.
A primary school student has accidentally injured her foot after stepping on a Jalur Gemilang pin badge
The incident comes shortly after the government made it mandatory for all government school students to wear the Malaysian flag on their uniforms.
According to the Education Ministry, each student would receive two Jalur Gemilang badges for free from 21 April.
However, many parents raised concerns because the badges distributed were pin-based, worrying that young kids might accidentally hurt themselves.
Unfortunately, in a now-viral Facebook post, a Malaysian father has shared photos of his daughter with a flag pin lodged in her foot
He explained that the pin had fallen off her brother's uniform and ended up on the car seat, where she unknowingly stepped on it.
He urged other parents to consider safer options: "Please be careful with the Malaysia flag pin. It's better to buy ones that can be sewn on. These free pins aren't suitable for younger kids, especially those under 8."
The post has sparked a discussion online, with many parents agreeing that alternatives such as magnetic, velcro, or iron-on flag badges would be safer for schoolchildren.
