Taxi Driver Extorts A 41-Year-Old Of RM3,900 For A Trip To Sunway Putra Mall
He threatened the passenger with a knife.

A 41-year-old Bangladeshi man was robbed by his cab driver of RM3,900 in Kuala Lumpur earlier on Tuesday
The incident, reported today, 1 December, by NST Online, happened after the man had hailed the cab to go to Sunway Putra Mall.
During the incident, the passenger had noticed that the cab's meter was possibly rigged, as he saw it was rising exponentially, reaching into the thousands of ringgit.
"A fare of RM6,000 for a journey of about 7 km"
According to a report in Harian Metro, the taxi driver got angry when the passenger asked him about the metre and threatened him with a knife.
"The victim's question made the taxi driver angry who scolded him and told that the entire fare is RM6,000," reported Harian Metro.
Surprised by the unreasonable amount, the victim asked the taxi driver to stop.
"However, the taxi driver then pulled a knife and threatened the victim to pay about RM4,500 or face consequences," according to Dang Wangi police chief Assistant Commissioner Shaharuddin Abdullah.
The victim, who feared for his safety, handed over all of his money amounting to RM3,900. After which, the taxi driver allowed him to leave.
