Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that B40 families earning less than RM2,500 are eligible for financial aid of up to RM2,500

During the tabling of Budget 2023 today, 24 February, Anwar, who is also the current Prime Minister of Malaysia, stated that the initiative will help B40 families. The amount of financial aid given will depend on the number of children in their households.

The premier went on to say that families in the extreme poor category are eligible for financial aid of up to RM3,100

"Based on the data collected by e-Kasih, the government will add an additional RM600 to the poorest families who had received Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR)," he said.

Anwar added that with an allocation of nearly RM8 billion, STR will help ease the burden of living for nearly 9 million beneficiaries.
