Four out of six sniffer dogs from the Batang Kali search and rescue (SAR) operation were awarded 'Golden Performance' medals on Monday, 9 January, for their stellar work

According to Free Malaysia Today, Local Government Development Minister Nga Kor Ming attended the award ceremony to present the heroic canines their well-deserved medals.

The four sniffer dogs that earned the medal are English Springer Spaniels Blake, Grouse, and Pop, and Labrador Retriever Lady.

According to China Press, two members of the SAR K9 team, Frankie and Denti, were not present at the ceremony as they were on standby for another operation.

Nga also presented certificates of appreciation to the firefighters who were involved in the SAR operation

Fire and Rescue Department operations director Datuk Nor Hisham Mohammad and Selangor fire and rescue department deputy director Wan Razali Wan Ismail received the certificates on behalf of their teams.

Nga has recognised that some local authorities have been charging "unreasonable" fees for the renewal of dog licences.

He assured that his ministry will be pooling its efforts to ensure Malaysians will not be burdened by cumbersome local policies, regulations, or SOPs.
