2 PJ Markets Closed After Traders Selling Vegetables & Seafood Test Positive For COVID-19

Authorities are urging those who have recently been to two wet markets in Petaling Jaya to go for COVID-19 screening
According to Free Malaysia Today, Petaling district officer Johary Anuar said those who went to Jalan Othman wet market, popularly known as 'Old Town market', between 5 and 18 April to buy seafood should go to the nearest government clinic for screening.
Those who have gone to Taman Megah market in SS24 between 11 and 25 April to buy vegetables should also undergo screening, Johary said during a press conference at the Jalan Othman wet market yesterday, 27 April.
He encouraged market-goers who went on these dates to visit Kelana Jaya SS6 and Taman Medan health clinics.
A seafood trader at Jalan Othman market and a vegetable trader at Taman Megah market have been admitted to hospital for COVID-19
The 51-year-old trader from the seafood section in Jalan Othman market was found positive with COVID-19 over the weekend.
"We were informed that the trader is part of the [Selayang] wholesale market COVID-19 cluster as the trader had gone to the wholesale market to get his supplies," said Johary, as quoted by Malay Mail.
Similarly, in Taman Megah market, a 49-year-old vegetable seller was tested positive for the novel coronavirus this week.
Both markets will be shut for at least five days for screening exercises and sanitation works
Screening will be conducted for the Taman Megah market traders today, 28 April, while the Jalan Othman wet market will undergo a similar exercise on Wednesday, 29 April.
There are 60 traders in the Taman Megah market and 578 traders in the Old Town market.
