Authorities Declare Influenza Outbreak In Selangor With 22 People Infected
53 students have also been infected by the virus in Penang.

At least 22 people in Selangor have been recently diagnosed with Influenza A
Bernama reported that the first case involved 20 students and a teacher from Sekolah Kebangsaan Cyberjaya.
In another case, two siblings in Klang were also infected.
Based on initial investigations, health authorities believe that the two cases are not linked
Selangor Health Director Datuk Dr Sha'ari Ngadiman said that most of the students and teachers have received treatment as outpatients and were allowed to return home.
However, one schoolboy was admitted to a private hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
"One of the siblings in Klang was hospitalised but is in stable condition, while the other received treatment as an outpatient and was allowed to return home."
"Further investigations found out that the infections in both these localities were not related to each other," he added.
Meanwhile, the Penang Ministry Of Education has confirmed that a total of 53 students have come down with Influenza A as of today.
Yesterday, 9 January, only 19 cases were reported.
According to Astro Awani, state education director Abdul Rashid Abdul Samad said that the case involves 45 primary school students and nine secondary students from different schools.
The authorities have also taken immediate measures to prevent the disease from spreading by distributing face masks in all schools.
"I have sent a letter to all the schools in Penang to take urgent steps so we could curb the issue. With the help of the Ministry of Health, we have also distributed face masks for the students."
Symptoms of influenza include persistent high fever, cough, fatigue, joint and muscle pain, and sore throat
Children, pregnant women, senior citizens, and those with chronic illnesses are at a higher risk of contracting Influenza A, as reported by Malay Mail.
At the moment, no school in Selangor has been closed due to the Influenza A outbreak as authorities believe that the situation is currently under control.
