A Woman Fractured Her Toes After Getting Stuck In Escalator At Empire Shopping Gallery

Another day, yet another escalator accident.

Escalator incidents inside our country's malls have become sort of a usual occurrence. A new one happens before we can get past the old one. The latest escalator mishap happened at the Empire Shopping Gallery in Subang Jaya.

Since yesterday, 10 March, a mobile video footage of the incident at the mall has been circulating on social media platforms. It shows a chaotic scene, where a woman's foot is seen trapped at the edge of the mall's escalator.

According to Kosmo!, 7 officers and a fireman were sent to the scene after they received a distress call at 4:10pm

"Upon arriving at the scene four minutes later, we discovered that the woman’s left foot was still trapped and the maintenance crew tried to free her foot. The firefighters helped and managed to remove her foot about 10 minutes," Hazinan Md, Head of Operations of Fire Rescue Subang Jaya, was quoted as saying by Kosmo!

He added that the incident was presumed to have occurred due to her thin slippers.

It appears the woman suffered fractures on her toes after her left foot was stuck in the escalator. She was sent to Sunway Medical Centre to receive further treatment.
