Amber Court Residents Gather To Protest After Having Had Enough Of Haunted Building Claims
The only thing haunting the residents of Amber Court are the baseless rumours surrounding the building.

For quite some years now, the Amber Court Apartment Complex has been the subject of an infamous Malaysian urban legend, where haunted stories are based on this building near Genting Highlands
Amber Court, which opened in 1996, was developed to be a hotel strategically located near a theme park. However, the construction of the theme park was abandoned, further development of the hotel was stalled, and the building fell into disrepair.
Amber Court then began to develop an infamous reputation for being haunted due to its eerie exterior coated with red algae, parking lots filled with old rusting cars, and the nearby abandoned construction site.
Claims of sightings of an apparition resembling a woman wandering the premises while making disembodied voices have been spread as an urban legend amongst Malaysians, creating a facade of unnatural sensations in the building.
The growing 'haunted' reputation was solidified even more as vloggers began to document their stay at the premises and a local film titled Haunted Hotel was filmed there.
Amber Court eventually turned to a residential apartment complex and in 2019, parts of the building were refurbished in efforts to dispel the urban legend
The exterior of the building, now under the control of Amber Court Management Corporation, has been repainted, and the abandoned cars in the parking lots have been removed.
An Insider reporter who stayed in a rented apartment room of the building this year, said she found nothing unusual with Amber Court aside from the remnants of disrepair of the building and the poor state of her room.
"Despite its haunted reputation, I found no ghosts during my stay. Instead, I found respite from the bustle of the city and the heat of the tropics," said the Insider reporter.
Nonetheless, the efforts to mitigate the haunted rumours of the building have yet to see progress as its reputation still persists.
More recently, the residents of Amber Court have had enough of the rumours and are protesting against the vloggers and conmen who claim the building is haunted
According to The Star, Amber Court Management Corporation chairman Datuk Seri Dr KK Chai said more than 100 residents gathered outside the apartment for a protest on Saturday, 18 June.
"Their allegations are baseless. None of us has ever seen a ghost let alone been disturbed by supernatural activity at the apartment," said Chai.
The rumours have only caused more people to come to the apartment to try and catch supernatural activity on video, as well as brought down the value of the apartment.
MCA Public Services and Complaints Department head Datuk Seri Michael Chong said that the residents of Amber Court will no longer tolerate these claims and will take legal action if the issue persists.
Chong said he has seen some of the videos of these 'sifu' claiming there were spirits roaming around the building.
"They can even claim that they can see these spirits playing mahjong. The residents have had enough," he said.
