Agong Urges Rakyat To Appreciate The Rukun Negara And Our Country's Plural Society
He advised Malaysians to live by the Rukun Negara to help instill the spirit of patriotism.

Yesterday, 10 October, the Agong urged the people to abide by the principles of the Rukun Negara to help instill the spirit of patriotism in the community
According to Bernama, Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah stressed that the five principles of the Rukun Negara should be a guide for all Malaysians as it is based on local culture and teachings.
"They emphasise good behaviour and morality, as well as remind everyone to always be grateful to Allah," said His Majesty at the 'Wacana Diraja Islam Agama Rahmah Raja Berpelembagaan dan Patriotisme' at Institute of Islamic Understanding Malaysia (IKIM).
"It also demands that justice be maintained in upholding the law, and more importantly, the Rukun Negara upholds the position of the king, nation, and constitution"
"In fact, a king is the king of all races regardless of religion, race, social status and political affiliation," said His Majesty during his speech.
According to New Straits Times, also present was the Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah.
Meanwhile, His Majesty said that the role of the king is always relevant and unique in our country of diverse demographics
"A king is an instrument to unite and inspire the spirit of patriotism," he said.
"When the country is facing issues regarding the interest of the people, the Institution of the Malay Rulers play an important role in expressing opinions, reprimanding, mitigating, and offering guidance.
"Therefore, the king is the crown of the nation and the protector of the people," he added.
The Agong also invited all Malaysians to appreciate the plural society of the country
His Majesty said the people should not simply complain about issues that could lead to disharmony and hostility.
"Instead, stick to the teachings of religion. Live by the principles of the Rukun Negara that are our national ideologies," he said.
"Respect the Constitution which is fundamental to the formation of our beloved country."
Prior to the Agong's speech, the Queen had taken to Twitter to highlight the unique advantages of our multicultural society
"In Malaysia, the Chinese and Indians are lucky to be able to speak three languages. The Malays can only speak two. Alhamdulillah," she wrote in a tweet posted on 8 October.
"But that is the advantage of a multicultural society, I recommend Malay people to learn the Indian or Chinese language so that all Malaysians can be fluent in three languages!"
