A teacher in Seremban allegedly missed her own wedding after her school principal reportedly denied her leave over a Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) meeting, according to a viral social media post

The incident first caught public attention after a social media user shared that their mother had attended a wedding in Sabak Bernam, Selangor — without the bride or groom present.

"The principal did not allow her to take leave due to a PTA meeting. So she couldn't attend her own wedding — it's heartbreaking," the user wrote, adding that the bride only managed to arrive around 6pm due to public holiday traffic, as reported by the New Straits Times.

According to the post, the teacher had applied for leave three months in advance, but only found out it was rejected three weeks before her big day, after invitations had already gone out.

At first, people thought it was fake. Even well-known educator Mohd Fadli Salleh initially dismissed the story as too absurd to be real.

"I really thought this was slander at first. Like seriously, who doesn't get leave for their own wedding?" he posted on Facebook on 11 May.

"Turns out it's true. Happened in Seremban. The bride was too obedient, she just followed an order that clearly didn't make sense."

In a sharp rebuke, Fadli criticised school administrators who "lack empathy" and make life unnecessarily difficult for teachers: "A job becomes enjoyable when the administrator is understanding, accommodating, and makes things easier. Staff will respect and work harder out of appreciation.

"But if you're the kind of boss who's pointlessly strict and inconsiderate? That's a recipe for stress, man."

After the story blew up, the social media user posted a public apology, clarifying that the story was based on what the bride's mother-in-law had shared, and that they never intended to defame anyone

"I only shared the situation out of sadness after hearing it from the mother-in-law herself. I realise now that it wasn't my place to tell the story, and it may have affected others' reputations," the user wrote.
