A Group Of Teachers In Perlis Are Still Hesitant About Being Vaccinated Against COVID-19

The state government is appealing to them to think of the students.

There are some 4,710 teachers in Perlis.

Out of which, a group of 26 teachers are refusing to be vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the state executive councillor.

Rozieana Ahmad, who is Perlis state executive councillor in charge of education, said that the 26 teachers are still not ready due to some reasons like a chronic illness, reported Bernama.

The number of teachers who initially refused the COVID-19 vaccine was 91. However, after discussions and some persuading by the state government, 65 agreed to get vaccinated.

In total, 4,504 teachers have been vaccinated with 206 unvaccinated as of 25 August.

They are being persuaded to get vaccinated before school reopens

"We need to coax them to ensure the school runs smoothly and the safety of students, particularly," the Pauh assemblyperson said, stressing that school staffers need to get vaccinated.

Similarly, a total of 779 teachers in Johor have refused to be vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the state government

The Johor government has said that it will call the 779 teachers to be briefed so that they understand the importance of the vaccine, especially as the face-to-face school session is expected to begin in October.

Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim also said that he will meet with the teachers.
