A 41-Year-Old Man Was Arrested For Smoking Onboard An AirAsia Flight From KL
He was travelling with a group of 10 Chinese tourists.

Earlier this week, a 41-year-old man was caught smoking inside the lavatory of an AirAsia flight from Kuala Lumpur to Tawau
The man, a tourist from China, had managed to sneak his pack of cigarettes onboard the flight and had gone into the aircraft lavatory to smoke, subsequently triggering the smoke alarm during the three-hour flight on Tuesday, 16 January, reported NST Online.
While the captain reprimanded the man for smoking onboard, he was arrested by police when the flight landed at the Tawau airport
The incident was confirmed by District police chief Assistant Commissioner Fadil Marsus, who said the case is being investigated under Section 100 of the Civil Aviation Regulations 2016 for smoking in an aircraft.
According to the report in NST Online, the 41-year-old, from Yunnan, was believed to be travelling with a group of 10 other Chinese nationals. They were planning to spend two days in Pom Pom island in Semporna, Sabah.
Back on 23 August 2017, there was a similar incident when an Iranian man was caught smoking onboard an AirAsia flight from Tehran to KL. He was fined RM2,500 and jailed for two days.
